We are so glad you are considering baptism. Baptism is a public profession of your faith in Jesus Christ after making a personal commitment to Christ. At Christ Fellowship, we believe baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as Savior.

We know people often have questions regarding baptism. Why should I be baptized? I’ve already been baptized. Do I have to do it again? Does it matter if I have been sprinkled or immersed? We hope the following information will answer some of your questions.

If you would like to talk to someone concerning baptism, please complete the “Let Us Know” form or call the church office at 349-0600.

BAPTISM FAQ’S

Why Should I Be Baptized?
To follow the example set by Christ.  “At that time Jesus came from Nazareth and was baptized by John in the river.”  Mark 1:9

Because Christ commanded it.  “Jesus said, ‘Go then, to all people everywhere and make them my disciple, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and then teach them to obey everything that I have commanded you.”  Matthew 28:19-20

What Is The Meaning Of Baptism?
It illustrates Christ’s death, burial and resurrection.  “Christ died for our sins…He was buried…and He rose again.”  1 Corinthians 15:3-4

It illustrates my new life as a Christian.  “When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside.  The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!”  2 Corinthians 5:17

Why Be Baptized By Immersion?
Jesus set the example for us.  “As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.”  Matthew 3:16

Every baptism in the Bible was by immersion. Example “…then both Phillip and the man went down into the water and Phillip baptized him.  When they came up out of the water…” Acts 8:38-39

The word “baptize” means “to dip into water.”

Who Should Be Baptized?
We believe that every person who believes in Christ should be baptized.  A believer is someone who has realized that their sin has separated them from God. They have given up all efforts to reach God through good works or religious activity.  They have concluded that Jesus Christ’s death on the cross for their sins is the only thing that can bridge the gap between them and God. A Believer is someone who has decided to trust Christ alone for their salvation.

What About Children?
We believe that when a child makes a decision for Christ, the child and his/her parents decide when he/she should be baptized.

What Is The Difference Between A Child’s Baptism And A Baby Dedication?
Parents are strongly encouraged to dedicate back to God one of our greatest blessings—our children. This memorable service offers you an opportunity as a parent to dedicate your infant to God.  It also gives you the opportunity to have a pastor pray for God’s blessings on your baby and your family.

What Do I Wear?
Dress in clothes you won’t mind getting wet. You should wear dark colored shorts and a dark-colored shirt.  You will be given a robe to wear over your dark shorts and shirt. Remember to bring a change of clothes to wear home.  Arrive about 30 minutes before the service is scheduled to begin in order to receive specific instructions.

How Do I Sign Up To Be Baptized?
You may simply stop by the Connections Counter in the foyer to sign up or submit a contact form online.

What Happens Next?
The baptism process at Christ Fellowship has been designed to be both simple and meaningful. From completing the baptism form to the baptism video, each step has been carefully planned with you in mind.

1. Complete The Baptism Form
Once we receive your form, you will be contacted by a staff member. We will meet with you to discuss  your video testimony. We will then schedule your baptism video taping.

2. Prepare For Your Baptism Interview Video
We want you to be as comfortable and prepared for the video as possible.  One of the most powerful aspects of baptism at CF is the video testimony shown right before each person’s baptism.  This video allows each person to share how Christ has been working in his/her life.  This video also shares a message that you have thoughtfully and prayerfully prepared ahead of time.

Many people ask, “Do I have to do the video?” The answer is yes, if you would like to get baptized at CF. Baptism is meant as a public profession, and this is an incredible opportunity to share God’s message of redemption with many people.  We have witnessed time and time again the effect these videos have had on many people’s lives.

3. Attend A Meeting To Film Your Baptism Video
This is a special time where you share with others that you have entered into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ via video.

Some people are nervous about taping their stories, but we work hard to make the process both simple and fulfilling. The video will be taped one to two weeks before your baptism.

4. Get Baptized!
Baptisms take place monthly in each service. A staff member will contact you to confirm a specific date for your baptism.
