{"id":1880,"date":"2025-01-12T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-12T01:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/christfellowship.me\/withholdtobehold\/?p=1880"},"modified":"2025-01-02T20:34:58","modified_gmt":"2025-01-02T20:34:58","slug":"day-07","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/christfellowship.me\/withholdtobehold\/2025\/01\/day-07\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 07"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Read Acts 9<\/strong><br>Scott Fogle<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Acts 9:4-6<\/strong><br><em>Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him,\u00a0\u201cSaul, Saul,\u00a0why are you persecuting Me?\u201d And he said, \u201cWho are You, Lord?\u201d Then the Lord said,\u00a0\u201cI am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.\u201d So he, trembling and astonished, said, \u201cLord, what do You want me to do?\u201d Then the Lord\u00a0said\u00a0to him,\u00a0\u201cArise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine starting a journey with a clear goal in mind. Saul began his trip to Damascus with the goal of arresting and persecuting Christians, but\u00a0his plan was\u00a0interrupted by\u00a0God. The same can happen to us. Sometimes, we are sure that we are on the right path, and\u00a0then we have a personal encounter with God that can drastically change our journey. God\u00a0had a\u00a0plan for\u00a0Saul despite his past, just as\u00a0he does for\u00a0us. (Jeremiah 29:11). Sometimes, we\u00a0might not\u00a0understand His\u00a0plan or wish it were\u00a0different, but\u00a0He has\u00a0a plan for\u00a0us, nonetheless. How\u00a0we respond after hearing from the Lord or when we have a personal encounter with Him is crucial to our becoming all that God has designed us to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Look at\u00a0how this encounter turned Saul\u2019s life around! He went from a\u00a0persecutor of\u00a0Christians to\u00a0one of\u00a0the most central figures of\u00a0Christianity and\u00a0the author of\u00a0thirteen epistles in\u00a0the Bible! He began the journey to Damascus as Saul, a Pharisee focused on persecuting Christians. However, as he continued his journey and followed what God told him to do, he gained a new kingdom identity as Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles. (Acts 9:15)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God got Saul\u2019s attention through the encounter but gave him his kingdom identity as he responded correctly to what he was told to do. Notice Jesus only told Saul what to do at that moment. This is usually how the Lord works. He tells us what to do one step at a time instead of laying out the details of His plan all at once. Therefore, we must be patient throughout our entire journey and continually ask the question: \u201cLord, what do You want me to do?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Application:<\/strong><br>Saul\u2019s encounter with the Lord on the road to Damascus was astonishing and the beginning of an incredible journey. As spectacular as Saul\u2019s personal encounter was, the Lord never intended for him to stay there. He still had to go into Damascus and do what the Lord told him to do. Let us follow Paul\u2019s example and be patient as the Lord directs us one step at a time, and may we stay engaged in what God is doing in our lives by continually asking Him: <em>\u201cLord, what do You want me to do?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Prayer Prompt:<\/strong><br><em>Father, thank You for those special encounter moments and thank You for speaking to me and having a plan for my life. I desire to be all that You designed me to be and to respond correctly to the situations and circumstances that I will face in life. Give me ears to clearly hear Your voice so that I may continually stay engaged in the journey You have for my life!
