I had a holy moment last night. It came unexpectedly as I walked out of a movie theater with friends. It began with a text that was waiting for me: “Can we talk?” I got myself home and called.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We moved through initial greetings and pleasantries and somehow made our way into the room that stored the years of unspoken family dysfunction and pain. We became vulnerable and honest as we held up our grief and regrets to one another, exposing what was true. As we shared, there was a sense that healing was finding its way into the deep, broken crevices of our hearts. It was healing that can only come from the hand of the Divine\u2014that’s what made the moment so sacred. It was a wonder that it happened. It was unlikely, but “something” kept telling her to reach out to me, and she finally did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today I’m left in awe as I ponder God’s goodness. I’m grateful He made a way where there seemed to be none. I marvel at the way the holy and sacred appeared. It draws me once again to my life verse, the one that’s carried me through the years ever since I came to faith:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.<\/em> Luke 1:45<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Mary encountered the Divine in an ordinary moment and was blessed because she moved forward with belief. She believed that God would do what He said, as impossible as it seemed. I clung to that scripture early on because I was desperate to be like her\u2014to believe that God could do the impossible in me. I needed to believe He was big enough and good enough to take a life so entirely broken and make it whole again. I wanted to believe that light would shine in my darkness\u2026 and it did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now, He’s come again, speaking to my friend who doesn’t know the sound of His voice, yet she heard it. He’s come again to make new and whole what seems beyond repair. So, I will hold tight and believe for her and with her that He is the faithful One who will complete the work He’s begun. I will believe for more holy and sacred moments in the ordinary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prayer<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Father, I rejoice in the wondrous works of Your hand. May we step into Your blessing because we choose to be a people who have the courage to believe what You have spoken. Give us the humility and willingness to keep listening and yielding to You. May we be awake, aware, and attentive to Your voice, and let this be a season where the ordinary becomes sacred as we behold You and become more like You. Fill us with awe and wonder as we encounter Your holiness. In Jesus name\u2014 Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
